Since 2001 The Loop newspaper has been Tehachapi's source for community news and upcoming events. We offer something for everyone! Terra-Gen Power, an owner and developer of renewable energy focused on wind, geothermal, and solar generation, is developing the Alta Wind Energy Center (AWEC). Terra-Gen owns and operates eleven (11) wind energy projects, with a total of 961 wind turbines in the Tehachapi/Mojave region. A professional, well-trained staff has operated safely in the area since 1997. In total, Terra-Gen owns 1,383 MW representing 25 operating renewable energy projects across the western United States. At its completion, the AWEC will produce 1,550 MW of clean renewable energy, increasing wind industry jobs in California by 20% and contributing $1.2 billion to the local Kern County economy.
