The excitement of the Carnival will again be part of Mountain Festival. The rides, the lights, the fun! There will be rides and fun for all ages.
The Carnival will be located at Wells School Playground. Carnival hours are Friday, August 15th from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16th from 12:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 17th from 12:00 p.m. – 8 00 p.m. Presale tickets at a reduced price will be available at the Chamber office beginning Friday, July 25, 2008. Presale tickets will be 20 tickets for $12.00, at the carnival booth ticket prices will be 1 ticket for $1.00, 20 tickets for $18.00 and 32 tickets for $24.00. Sunday, August 17th will be “Pay One Price” day. The presale price for a wristband that will enable you to ride as often as you like will be $20.00; on Sunday at carnival booth cost is $25.00. Wrist Bands are good for Sunday, August 17th Only.

August 15th and 16th —V.F.W. Dinner & Dance
Start your weekend on August 15th with great hamburgers and chili dogs with all the fixin's, then dance to the music of a live country band. On Saturday night, come and enjoy a delicious tri-tip and hot links dinner, then dance the night away under the stars to another of your favorite country bands. August 16th— Mountain Festival Run
The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District will once again sponsor the Mountain Festival Summer Fun Run on Saturday, August 16th. All runners, walkers, Moms and Dads with babies in carriages and senior citizens are welcome to compete in the one mile walk, 5k and 10k event. There are categories for all runners ages 8 to 70. Participants will receive refreshments to round out the morning of exercise and good fellowship in the cool, clear air of Tehachapi.
Registration forms are available online at www.tvrpd.org or by clicking here or may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, the Tehachapi Library, Tehachapi City Hall and TVRPD office. Pre-registration cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration deadline is Friday, August 1st. Cost the day of the event is $25 and no T-shirt. Registration is from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The race will start at 8:00 a.m. T-shirts will be available for purchase on race day. back to top
August 16th— Pancake Breakfast
Before heading to any of the Festival events on Saturday, August 16th, come and enjoy breakfast cooked by the Royal Rangers of Tehachapi in the Veterans Hall at 125 East F Street. Breakfast will be available from 7:00 – 9:30 a.m. The Royal Rangers will be serving their traditional “all you can eat” Mountain Festival Pancake Breakfast. Pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice will be available within steps of the festival parade. Tickets are on sale now and advance ticket prices are $5.00 for adults while children 10 years and under can eat for just $4.00. Tickets bought at the door will cost 50 cents more.
The Royal Ranger is a Christian organization for boys, ages five through 14. Camping out is among their many activities, along with trips to Knott’s Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. The boys also participate in an annual derby involving model cars handmade from wood blocks. The Royal Rangers hold their meetings at the Christian Life Assembly Church on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Contact Dale Sheley, Senior Commander at 822-3813 for more information. Bring the whole family, there's something for everyone!! There will be 100 vendors of handmade arts & crafts, commercial booths, a variety of local non-profit organization food booths, a beer garden, entertainment in the park, fun and games for the kids, and much more. Visit this old time craft demonstration a the Tehachapi Museum on Green Street. Visitors are likely to find frontier crafts like Kawaiisu baskets, spinning, beading, storytelling, or quilting, just to name a few. This event is sponsored by the Heritage League. 10 a.m. each day.
August 17th — 11th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show
The 11th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show “Thunder on the Mountain” will return to downtown Tehachapi at Green & “F” Streets. The show will be held on Sunday, August 17th from 9 am to 3 pm .
Pre-Registration Fee is $30 and includes a Goodie Bag, Dash Plaque and a free t-shirt. *Registration is limited to 300 Entries.* To qualify for Pre-Registration, payment and Registration Form must be received by August 15th. Parking is *First Come, First Served*.
If you want to park with your club or group of friends, plan to arrive together and park. Event parking begins at 7:00 a.m.

August 16th & 17th — PRCA Rodeo
Come and celebrate the western heritage of Tehachapi at the 45th Annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival® PRCA Rodeo August 16-17 at the Tehachapi Rodeo Grounds on Dennison Road.
Family members of all ages will thrill to the high flying, head jerking, spine tingling excitement that only a day at the rodeo can bring. Even the most seasoned rodeo fans will be delighted by the antics of the clowns and amazed at the bravery of the bullfighters.
Festivities begin on Saturday, August 16th at 5:00 pm with the splendor of the Grand Entry. followed by the thrills and chills of PRCA Rodeo. On Sunday, there will be a Special Rodeo at 1 PM. Then come back at 4:00 pm for the coronation of the 2008 Rodeo Queen and more rodeo action.
Tickets will be available at a discounted rate at Albertson’s Customer Service Booth, The Emporium Western Store in Bakersfield, Hemme Hay feed store, and the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce. Presale ticket prices are $13 for adults and $10 for children 8-12 and seniors 55 and over and military with ID. Children 7 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.
Tickets will be on sale at the gate prior to both performances. Gate prices are $15 for adults and $12 for children and seniors.
